A Student Abroad Series

If you’ve been following my blog or have read the ‘About’ page, you’d know that in December of 2013 I packed my bags and left Australia to fulfil an 8 year dream – to go to college in the States.

My exchange experience was everything I’d dreamed it would be and more. There are no combination of words I could use that could express how awesome an experience living and studying in another country is; it’s something that if you’re given the opportunity you TAKE IT! Without even thinking about it, just do it!

Whilst abroad, I experienced my fair share of struggles. I had my drink spiked, which was a horrible experience and at times felt incredibly home sick. However, those rare down moments were well outweighed by fucking great/on-top-of-the-world moments. The friends you make become your family and the memories that you create become so cherished!

It’s been two years since I was studying abroad and loving life. Whilst thinking about how great my experience was and how much I encourage everyone to participate in a similar program, I wondered how many other people had participated on a student exchange that would love to share their stories. I put the idea out to the online blogging world and was overwhelmed with the response I received! Whilst initially I thought I’d make my ‘Student Abroad’ collaboration a single article, the numerous replies have resulted in a series being a better format of story telling.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing other bloggers Study Abroad stories. I hope you all love this as much as I do. And if anything, I hope that these amazing stories will give you the urge to dare to do something different! Push yourself out of your comfort zone and live!
